The Shelton Church of Christ is a non-denominational, independent Christian fellowship of people who love the Lord and wish to be known simply as "Christians." We aspire to be the church you read about in the Bible, free from the denominational doctrines and traditions of men.

We are committed to preserving the Christian "unity" that God commands in His Word. We strive to cultivate a loving environment where each and every individual is respected and appreciated for his or her place in the family of God. We encourage people to study, think for themselves, and arrive at their own conclusions. While God's Word reveals everything we need to know to understand His will, we may still not all agree with one another on every doctrine or social issue. However, because we share a genuine, mutual commitment to Jesus Christ as our Lord and to seeking the truth of His Word, we have unity with one another.

Why should I study the Bible?

The Bible tells us about the mind of God, the nature of man, what separates people from God, and how to renew the relationship God intended to have with us from the beginning. Through the Bible, God promises blessings beyond understanding to those who believe and follow the directions it contains. This information is intended for all people to know how their life can be in sync with their creator. Doesn't this sound like something you should investigate for yourself?

Who can really understand the Bible anyway?
You can! God did not go to all the trouble of giving us His word through inspired med, and preserving it over thousands of years, only to leave us with something we cannot comprehend. Many of us, however, have been confused and frustrated when we try to understand the Bible in light of things we have been taught by our culture or churches. At the Shelton Church of Christ, we make every attempt to teach only the things God has recorded for us, without adding individual interpretation. If we just let the Bible interpret itself, we can understand it much easier.

What is the best way to study the Bible?
Most people learn easier in one of three types of Bible study; small group discussions, one-on-one individual study or personal correspondence course. At the Shelton Church of Christ we offer all three types of study, based on your desires.
